THREE CLIFFS BAY

Three Cliffs Bay is a five star holiday park, in Gower, Wales offering luxury glamping, camping and touring pitches.

THE BACKGROUND

When it comes to the maintenance of the five-acre site, utility vehicles form an essential and major part of the business and how well it runs. Up until now these machines have always been petrol which on a campsite wasn’t ideal, so, when it was time to update the site’s maintenance fleet, owner Tom Beynon investigated the option of battery-powered vehicles for the first time.

THE BRIEF

Tom visited the Leisure and Transport Show in 2021 with one thing in mind and that was a quiet, clean, unobtrusive transport solution for the luxury site.

Customer experience and satisfaction are the ultimate priorities at Three Cliffs Bay and with many visitors residing under canvas, it’s really important they are not disturbed, and the running of the site goes unnoticed.

When Tom visited the Reesink e-Vehicles stand at the show he explained how he specifically needed one vehicle to collect ashes from fire pits. He was able to view the STAR EV Capella 2 HCX, market-leading when it comes to towing capacity and the amount of payload it can handle, on stand and was so impressed with the product and help Reesink provided he ordered one.

THE RESULTS

The Capella quickly established its reputation onsite for quiet motoring and productive performance, so much so Tom placed an order for a second, plus a third machine – this time the Capella 2 HCX Lifted which is ideal for off-road load carrying situations.

The Capellas have been put to work transporting guests and their luggage around the site, as well as rubbish collecting and recycling, with the Lifted being used for gardening jobs. They proved very quickly that they can take on all the tasks required without any difference in productivity to their petrol counterparts and without disturbance.

Tom now has plans for expanding the job requirements of the Capella vehicles and hiring them out to guests for the duration of their stay. He says: “They’ve proved themselves to be such good vehicles – easy to drive, comfy to use and they look good – that it would be another selling point for our guests to stay at the park.”

AND THE CONCLUSION

When machinery and guests coexist, the best thing a utility vehicle can bring to a holiday park, whose very business depends on creating a positive and pleasurable customer experience, is to be seen but not heard.

STAR EV has proved this point three times to Three Cliffs.

We use these machines already for transporting guests and their luggage around the site, but I’m really interested in taking that a step further and hiring them out to guests for the duration of their stay.
